BETHSAIDA (St Dogmaels)

Jo and Tony are proud custodians of this stunning building, and their commitment to genuinely sustainable tourism and minimizing their impact on the environment goes much deeper than just recycling.  They are Greenkey accredited, use low impact cleaning products, and the local farmer’s markets provide much of the ingredients for their legendary breakfast. There is a feeling of calm and serenity, and one can almost hear the proud welsh voices singing through history.

The five up to date bedrooms are a handy mix of twins and doubles including a family room, Gras is specially adapted for those with limited mobility.  All bedrooms are carefully themed around the stained glass windows retained in each one, and the to-die-for beds even make use of the Chapel pews as headboards.  Whilst there is an obvious nod to the past, they are modern, fresh and immaculately maintained with flat screen TV’s, efficient free Wi-Fi, great tea and coffee making facilities and all have stone tiled luxurious en-suite shower rooms with indulgent toiletries.

The relaxing atmosphere extends to the impressive public space where the restored pulpit stands above a cosy seating area with games and books for guests to while away a few hours.  Guests with an ecclesiastical bent might want to read out loud!

Once you’ve worked up a proper appetite on the breath-taking Coast Path, or blown the cobwebs away on the glorious beaches at Poppit or Mwnt, you’ll be spoilt for choice when dinner time comes around – there are three great food-led pubs within a few minutes walking distance. St Dogmaels has an Abbey and the Coach House Museum with free entry, complete with a fantastic café on site for visitors. We can recommend the delicious homemade cakes.
