LASSWADE (Llanwrtyd Wells)

The three main reasons why guests continually return to Lasswade Country House? Award-winning food prepared fresh daily. A ‘home-from-home’ experience with friendly hospitality and personal service. Beautiful views all round and a peacefulness that’s second-to-none. Roger, a professional chef, showcases modern British food, sourcing local, some organic and wild produce. And in the candlelit restaurant you’ll be attentively served by Emma.

Lasswade, an elegent period country house, is relaxing and homely in atmosphere. Guests can unwind in the comfortable drawing room and enjoy magnificent views, a log-burning fire and plenty of reading material. You’ll also gaze out across the green heart of Wales from the bedrooms, which are light and spacious with organic toiletries and all modern amenities. Green is the operative word here, for Lasswade is run in an environmentally friendly way, recognised by many prestigious ‘green’ awards. Interestingly, it’s one of the few rural country houses that can be reached easily by public transport – in this case, the scenic Heart of Wales railway from Shrewsbury to Swansea.
The house stands on the outskirts of Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain, is the gateway to the Cambrian Mountains, the brooding Epynt Hills and the Brecon Beacons, is a former spa town now famous for its unusual events that includes a Man Versus Horse Marathon and International Bog Snorkelling (honestly!). It’s also an ideal base for walking, bird-watching and other country pursuits.
