Ingredients

Method

  1. In a bowl over a bain marie, melt the chocolate and margarine together and stir. Set to one side, and allow to cool.
  2. Bring the Brains Black beer to the boil in a steel (not aluminium) pan, and reduce to 1/10th of the volume. Allow to cool.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, sugar and vanilla until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Add the softened cream cheese, and whisk until completely dissolved.
  5. Whisk in the sifted flour and the coffee essence.
  6. Fold in the cooled chocolate, until smooth and uniform.
  7. Fold in the reduced beer syrup.
  8. Prepare a tin by greasing lightly with a little margarine, and then lining with greaseproof paper. This will ensure you line the tin properly.
  9. Tip in the mixture, and smooth out.
  10. Bake in a pre-heated oven on Gas 190 / 375 / gas mark 5 for approximately 40 - 45 minutes.
  11. Remove, and allow to cool in the tin.
  12. Refrigerate and chill before cutting into squares.
